Literacy Task Force included in Heritage Fund Grant a Wish 2014 Program

The Heritage Fund of Bartholomew County's Grant A Wish program offers a wonderful opportunity to shop for gifts for friends, family, co-workers, or even yourself! By choosing "gift(s)" from this year's Wish List, you can Grant A Wish individually, or with a group. Wishes start at $20 and cover a wide variety of community needs. This year, we have 126 wishes waiting to be granted from 45 organizations.

This is the first time the Literacy Task Force has been involved in the Grant a Wish program. We are hoping for a great turn-out.  LTF has requested wishes on two of their programs: the Tots Reading Lots book club, which is for Bartholomew County's youngest residents, ages 1-4, provides 6 books a year plus activity sheets to enrollees.  While a $30 donation is suggested upon enrollment, parents can request a scholarship on the enrollemnt form. To date, no child has been turned down for inability to pay . A donation of $30 provides 6 books plus activity sheets for one child for a year.

The Book Express hands out free gently used books (infant through high school levels) in high-poverty neighborhoods as well as area schools, fairs and festivals.  A gift of $50 would allow a purchse of books in particular subject areas or reading levels to supplement public donations. A gift of $1000 would allow for a professional cleaning and repairs to be made to the interior.

While we have suggested amounts, any amount would be greatly appreciated.  The Heritage Fund is generously matching dollar for dollar the first $15,000 gifted.

To give, go to www.heritagefundbc.org.  By using #giftback when you post an update on Facebook it will let others know that you gave back through the Grant a Wish program this holiday season. Please share your donating experience and encourage others to do the same.
