Who We Are

Because literacy is critical to the economic and personal well being of all residents in Bartholomew County, the Bartholomew County Literacy Task Force was formed bringing together Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation, Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corporation, and representatives from various community institutions and agencies to collaboratively explore this vital issue. The synergy evolving from the research, analyses, and strategies developed by the Task Force has resulted in a comprehensive plan for early intervention for at-risk youth in our county.

The mission of the Task Force is:

For All Bartholomew County Residents to Be Literate.

The goals of the Task Force are:

  • All children will come to school ready to learn to read.
  • All students will be reading on grade level by the end of second grade.
  • All parents will be equipped to support their child’s education.
  • All Bartholomew County adults will be proficient readers.
  • All adults will be supportive of the Bartholomew County literacy initiatives.
